From fanfiction to new fiction
I’m April Presnell, and I’ve been writing regularly since middle school. I obtained a BA in English from UW-Milwaukee in 2013 and primarily write YA fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian fiction (when not writing fanfiction).
As an avid fan of slash fanfiction and an avid reader, I noticed the internet had a lot more LGBT representation than published novels. Since I’m bisexual myself, it only made sense to use my own experience in my work. We need more LGBT protagonists in fantasy!
I’ve spent the past six years working in marketing the past ten years doing NaNoWriMo, and the past 28 years dreaming up stories, before I even understood that I was capable of writing fiction and sharing it with others.
